Kambo (Phyllomedusa bicolor)

Kambo Sapo or Jungle Toad . These are all names given to the secretion of a tree frog that lives in the northwestern part of the Amazon rainforest (Peru, Colombia and Brazil). Its scientific name is 'Phyllomedusa bicolor' or " Giant Monkey Frog".

It is used to free oneself from Panema (name given to negative things) as well as for hunting magic; and as a powerful medicine against malaria, snake bites, yellow fever and other epidemic diseases.

Scientific Research

In the 1980s, Italian Nobel Prize-nominated scientist Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome claimed that the Kambo contains a fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications unmatched by any other amphibian

Among the several dozen peptides found in Kambo, about 7% are bioactive [GONMAN]. These bind to receptors located in the brain triggering chemical reactions in the human body. So far researchers have found nine bioactive peptides that have a potent effect on gastrointestinal muscles, gastric and pancreatic secretions, blood circulation, and in stimulating the adrenal cortex and pituitary gland.

These peptides have a strong analgesic effect, improve endurance, increase physical strength and generally improve the ability to withstand pain and stressful situations. They possess a medicinal potential that facilitates digestion, and analgesic effects have been demonstrated for those with renal colic, pain caused by peripheral vascular insufficiency and cancer pain.

In the 1990s a new peptide, Adenoregulin, was discovered by John Daly's team at the National Institute of Health in the U.S. Adenoregulin works in the human body through adenosine receptors, a fundamental component in all energizing human cells. These receptors may offer an option for the treatment of depression, stroke and cognitive impairment diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.

Scientific research on Kambo peptides is opening up new insights into how the human brain functions. The properties of Kambo peptides cover a wide range of potential medical uses in the treatment of brain diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, depression, migraines, blood circulation problems, vascular insufficiency, organ diseases, skin and eye problems, fertility problems in women and men, AIDs, hepatitis and cancer.

Due to the presence of these nine peptides, Kambo is one of the strongest natural antibiotics and anesthetics found in the world and one of the best natural means of boosting the immune system.

Kambo treatments have both short and long term effects. In the short term, the effects are a state of alertness, good mood, increased resistance to fatigue, hunger, and thirst. [GONMAN], the ability to focus and concentrate more easily, and a mental calmness that can last for several days or weeks. In the long term Kambo empowers the immune system, overcomes fatigue and improves health status.

Other interesting medical characteristics of this secretion are its anti-inflammatory effects, its ability to destroy microbes and viruses and to heal infections. [GONMAN]
